Joana Cera
Biography
Graduated in Fine Arts from the Faculty of Barcelona in 1989, with specialization in Sculpture. Erasmus Winchester School of Art Scholarship. That same year, she participated in a QUAM workshop directed by Eva Lootz. Cera moved to the Basque Country until 1993, where he attended a film directing workshop with Enrique Urbizu and various workshops organized at Arteleku, including Sergi Aguilar (1989), Angel Bados (1990), Juan Muñoz (1990) and Pepe Espaliu ( 1992).
In 2000 she lived in New York as resident artist at the International Studio & Curatorial Program, taking an intensive course at the New York Film Academy at the same time thanks to a grant from the Marcelino Botín Foundation in 1999. In 2001 she attended the Netherlands to the European Ceramics Work Center (EKWC) program. Artist-in-residence at the Royal Academy of Spain in Rome 2019/2020.
Cera had solo shows at Fundació La Caixa, Fundación Santa María de Albarracín, Museu de l’Empordà, Fundación Suñol, La Caja Blanca or Galería Alegría, among others. Her work has been exhibited in group shows at institutions such as Center d’Arts Santa Mònica, Fundació Miró in Barcelona, CGAC, as well as in different centers and galleries in Portugal, Italy, the Netherlands, France and Bulgaria.
